  • What did you learn?

While doing this project I learned how to prototype infographics on videos at certain times and angles in figma. I also learned how to create a scrolling feature for each individual art piece.

  • What was easy?

I would say it was relatively easy given our professor provided us with tutorials that helped.

  • What was challenging?

It wasn’t so much challenging except for the fact that it is time consuming and tedious. But overall the difficulty level was low.

  • How could your submission be improved?

I think reconnecting my art work icon back to the art piece would help the flow of the app more. Doing the same with the donation and information as well.

  • How could I improve the assignment for the next class?

I think finding new creative ways to few graphics would be fun and interesting. Just like with the captured art gallery that my professor helped me with.

  • How might you apply your knowledge in future assignments or work scenarios?

This assignment has helped me to develop and improve on my prototyping skills more in Figma but also allow me to critically and creatively think about how to layout and design an app!

  • How did a specific reading or video inspire or help you?

I looked at past tutorials to help me with my prototyping but I also used the professors original project as a basis to start off from.

  • What did you learn?

For this project I learned how to code using the application Visual Studio Code. We worked with index.html as well as style.css. Within the written code script we were given, I learned how to edit text and color style for my website. I also learned the importance of having a set up file system to ensure that everything was linked for my website to work.

  • What was easy?

In my opinion it was a bit of a struggle at first because it was a completely new domain for me. It was frustrating at times because I kept getting errors with my links, but after I took the time to learn why the problems occurred it became a lot easier.

  • What was challenging?

It was challenging at times due to the fact that a little mistake could cause an error for the whole website. So you have to be very tedious and cautious of how you a writing/rewriting in code.

  • How could your submission be improved?

I would like to learn on how to space out text and images on a website through coding as well as placement. On my contact page I could change the colors of the text boxes as well.

  • How could I improve the assignment for the next class?

I think implementing how to do spacing/placement on our websites would be beneficial.

  • How might you apply your knowledge in future assignments or work scenarios?

I’m very interested in coding/wanting to make web sites especially in regards to helping market products for businesses. Even though we only did a brief amount of coding, it helped me understand what coding looks like and what steps are crucial when considering making websites with code.

  • How did a specific reading or video inspire or help you?

Looking at the professors website gave me an idea of how my layout should look like. With the content and color scheme, I took inspiration from my website I made on Wix.com. It was interesting seeing the different ways someone can make a website whether that be from scratch with code or through a website program online.

  • What did you learn?

Throughout creating this app I learned how to use Figma’s prototype tools as well as components and variants to help make an interactive design. I also learned to consider the layout as well as how important it is to consider the color scheme when creating any subject matter.

  • What was easy?

It was easy following directions that the professor gave in class. He made it easy to follow along with as well as answering any questions I had and helping me fix issues I was having.

  • What was challenging?

What was challenging was creating components specifically our checkboxes since there were multiple steps to follow to make sure the button was working.

  • How could your submission be improved?

I could’ve spent more time on the design aspect of the app. Like incorporating things like a calendar to include dates and times for tasks.

  • How could I improve the assignment for the next class?

I definitely liked the idea of adding a built in calendar to the footer. So I think adding more interesting features like this when creating the projects would be beneficial.

  • How might you apply your knowledge in future assignments or work scenarios?

When working on future projects I’ll be able to consider how the layout, the color scheme, and the components all play a part in creating an interactive interface.

  • How did a specific reading or video inspire or help you?

This website helped me to look into how different apps were set up/designed as well as what made each app stand out to their audience. Link: https://zapier.com/blog/best-todo-list-apps/

  • What did you learn?
  • In this project I learned how to use the tools in sound trap, adobe premiere and abode after effects. Because of this I was able to combine all of the skills I’ve learned into one project.

    1. What was easy?

Adding effects and filtering my clips in adobe premiere was relatively easy as each of the tools was organized in a orderly manner.

    1. What was challenging?

Adding multiple sounds and adjusting them to fit with one another. It was challenging getting the sound to match up with my clips.

    1. How could your submission be improved?

I could’ve spent more time on animating my title in after effects. The music in my movie could’ve been lowered compared to my heartbeat sounds.

    1. How could the professor improve the assignment for the next class?

I don’t think there is much the professor could improve on except maybe broadening the applications used. Having multiple options of media that students could use like iMovie, video star, Capcut, garage band, etc.

    1. How might you apply your knowledge in future assignments or work scenarios?

Not only have I learned how to use these applications but I’ve also learned how to be aware of different perspectives, angles, and lighting when filming. This will help me think more critical when preparing for future projects.

    1. How did a specific reading or video found outside of class  inspire or help you?

I used various tutorials on YouTube and the presentation slides from the class in order to help me with this assignment.

    Pictures:

Since I didn’t have time to put credits in the video, I’d like to give thanks to Kat Furmanek and Orla Wray for helping me!

    1. What did you learn?

I learned how to use all of our past skills learned in this class and compile them all together when designing for a project. We used typography, color schemes, and gestalt principles when designing our stamps.

    1. What was easy?

I would say that coming up with my concepts was easy but executing them was a little difficult. Since I’ve individually learned how gestalt principles, typography and color schemes work it was easier to implement them then I would have thought.

    1. What was challenging?

Grabbing all of the materials I needed was easy but it took time and patience to try and fit those materials neatly into a contained space. It was also a challenge making sure each of the components contrasted and balanced one another.

    1. How could your submission be improved?

Two of my stamps are fitted neatly into a square structure, not overlapping each other while my other two do. Exploring and expanding more of the layout for my stamps would give it a unique overall look.

    1. How could the professor improve the assignment for the next class?

I think the professor successfully made the assignment understandable and gave us multiple demonstrations/ideas on how to approach the project.

    1. How might you apply your knowledge in future assignments or work scenarios?

Now that I know how to compile all of the skills I’ve learned into one project, I will be able to successfully work more efficiently on my future projects.

    1. How did a specific reading or video inspire or help you?

The professors demonstrations and the students projects helped me look differently at my composition, typography and color scheme of my project.

    1. What did you learn?

In this assignment, I learned how to use different fonts sizes, spacing, alignment and composition of words.

    1. What was easy?

I found this assignment more difficult then the others because I have not worked with word design before. The more I experimented with the words, the more comfortable I became with my designs and the project.

    1. What was challenging?

The composition was the most challenging part for me. Fitting and sizing words with also portraying a cohesive image was difficult.

    1. How could your submission be improved?

My submission could improve by making sure all the dimensions are accurately equal and balanced.

    1. How could the professor improve the assignment for the next class?

I don’t think there is much that the professor could prove on for the assignment. Providing links to other students past projects or someone else’s work online for inspiration would be beneficial.

    1. How might you apply your knowledge in future assignments or work scenarios?

Now that I have learned how to work with typography, I can incorporate these skills in the future with other principles I’ve used like gestalt and color composition.

    1. How did a specific reading or video inspire or help you?

The internet and other students work gave me inspiration and ideas for the composition in my project.

Game Design Project ../../../2022/11/18/game-design-project/ Fri, 18 Nov 2022 19:53:39 +0000 https://comdma.com/mcwray2702/?p=104 (picture will be added later)

    1. What did you learn?

In this project I learned how to use Unity and its various features to help design a terrain for a game.

    1. What was easy?

It wasn’t easy to say the least. I’ve never worked with Unity before so it was difficult getting used to the mechanics.

    1. What was challenging?

Initially it was due to the assets we used not working and causing problems for the game itself but the professor helped us fix this. After getting comfortable with where things were in Unity and its controls, it got less challenging and more familiar and easier to use.

    1. How could your submission be improved?

I could spend more time on the details but cleaning up the edges of the terrain and maybe play more the direction of the light. I could also add my own sounds to he game for instance the sound that the character makes when it walks or jumps.

    1. How could the professor improve the assignment for the next class?

The professor could have maybe made their own game more recently and then gave it a test run with the assets we used. This would help us to know in advanced what assets do and don’t work.

    1. How might you apply your knowledge in future assignments or work scenarios?

Through this assignment I am now prepared to use the skills I’ve learned in Unity for future projects that I may need to design in Unity for my future job.

    1. How did a specific reading or video found outside of class  inspire or help you?

I used the lectures given in the class to help guide me step by step on how to set up my terrain, light source and FPS controller.

Metaphor: Words Cut Deeper Than a Knife
    1. In this project I learned how to create a patterned background in Figma with plugins in iconify and pattern hero. I also learned how to combine images in Figma but instead I used photoshop because I was more familiar with it and wanted better quality for the end product.

    2. Since I already knew how to layer and use specific tools in regards to combining images, it was easy to produce the end product I envisioned.

    3. As always the time, precise and effort you put into editing your photo is the most challenging. Making sure the photo itself wasn’t jagged and was smooth by using the pen brush was the difficult part of this project. Another part that was challenging for me was brainstorming ideas for my metaphor.

    4. My submission could be improved by brainstorming more on the images that I want to combine for my metaphor. Since I haven’t done much brainstorming before, I think more practice will help me improve on my ideas for future projects.

    5. I don’t really think there is anything the professor can improve on this assignment for the next class. I think they successfully portrayed what was required for the project and provided sufficient tutorials in Figma and Photoshop on combining images.

    6. By practicing brainstorming ideas for this project and learning new skills in Figma, I am able to use these processes towards my future projects. I will be able to have an organized way to start my project and really expand on the ideas I have.

    7. Not only did looking at other past student’s projects help me understand what my project required but also brainstorming in class with my classmates helped me start off my project. Hearing others ideas on what my metaphor images could be helped me jump start my project.

    1. What did you learn?

In this assignment I learned how to design website slides on figma. I learned how to use prototype on figma which creates links to websites and other slides with a click.

    1. What was easy?

Designing the format and content of each slide was relatively easy as I had an idea of how I wanted to set it up from the start. Also having a prompt of the home page already there helped me start of on a basis of something.

    1. What was challenging?

The challenging part of this assignment was linking the social media icons to their corresponding websites. Once I got some practice it was easy to follow.

    1. How could your submission be improved?

I could maybe add more creative elements to my design like changing the color and placement of the font.

    1. How could the professor improve the assignment for the next class?

Maybe using a different program other then figma to create the website design. Having an application that allows the students to create an actual website with its own link.

    1. How might you apply your knowledge in future assignments or work scenarios?

The skills and techniques I’ve learned in figma will allow me to set up a prototype of a web design/layout for future projects.

    1. How did a specific reading or video found outside of class  inspire or help you?

Other students past website designs helped me get an idea of what our website designs should look like. The lab 5 instructions helped me set up the links to the other social media websites.

    1. In this project I learned how to use more of the effects on figma. I used the radial and linear effects to create gradients and shadows in my objects. I also learned how to use various color schemes in my landscapes such as analogous, split complimentary, triadic and complimentary.

    2. It was easy to navigate around figma after being given demonstrations on the new effects. It also helped with short cuts in regards to setting up the composition of the shapes.

    3. The challenging part of this project was patience and time management. I wanted to put in more effort then I usually do as I had multiple concepts I wanted to do within my project. But in the end they all paid off.

    4. The positioning of my objects in my project could probably have been different. Using a wider range of perceptive would help. I didn’t have as much time to work on my seascape landscape so I could’ve included more objects and color to the frame.

    5. There isn’t much the professor could improve on with this project in my opinion. This assignment allowed for me to explore more with my creativity and imagination.

    6. With the new techniques, skills and color theories I have learned in this project I will be able to apply these to future projects to help improve on my final composition overall.

    7. The demonstrations and critiques of other projects in this class helped me understand what other ways to approach my project. For instance using the fade in background effect so that an object appears further in distance.

    8. In regards to what gestalt principles I used in this project repetition and shared fate. I used in my first landscape through the windows on the buildings. In my third landscape I used shared fate within the tree as the bark of the tree leads to the bird at top of the branch. I used rule of thirds in my last landscape as I wanted the ship coming out of the portal to be the focal point.
