Give it a view!

This Episode Changed Amethyst Forever

Breakdown of work done for client.

I worked with a content creator focused on analysis of animated tv shows and movies, along with indie animated projects. Her content is focused on delving deeper into the storylines present within these shows, as well as using visual elements form the shows in order to give her audience a new perspective.

During this project I acted as an advisor and editor, Assisting with video direction and compilation. The main focus of my assistance was on the animations between scenes alongside the titling of the video and thumbnail creation. This aspect of the video worked great, racking up over 100K views in just over 3 weeks, making it one of her most popular longform videos posted.

I designed keyframe animations and transitions to keep viewer attention and collaborated on thumbnail development. We started from a rough basic image and iteratively enhanced it for to make it pop.

This project has resulted in a contact to work together over the summer, where in I will fully take over the editing of her longform content to allow a more frequent upload pattern, alongside allowing her to have more time to spend improving her shortform videos that make up a majority of her posts.

This collaboration sprouted from my knowledge of editing through courses and independent work, and her hobby as a content creator. I have assisted and taught her things before but decided that we should finally actually collaborate, and the result was better than we could have hoped!

Project 4 ../../../2023/05/05/project-4/ Fri, 05 May 2023 22:48:10 +0000 https://comdma.com/palmisa2/?p=40 1. What did you learn?

I learned the basics of premier and after effects, along with an insight into mixing music.

2. What was easy?

Certain parts were easy, and/or came naturally, like the music design portion.

3. What was challenging?

Thinking about what I wanted to do and how I wanted to portray it.

4. How could your submission be improved?

By using more cuts of potentially dragging on videos, maybe some more work on the timeline of it.

5. How could the professor improve the assignment for the next class?

Open up the requirements more and allow for people to make things like AMVs or gameplay compilations.

6. How might you apply your knowledge in future assignments or work scenarios?

I can help my sister with some of her videos by making a soundtrack or helping her edit.

7. How did a specific reading or video inspire or help you?

The class videos (like always) helped a lot, but also I used YouTube a but to help edit things in a specific way.

8. Reflect about your emotion, how you expressed it in your video, things you liked, didn’t like, etc. Mention a tip, insight, or inspiration from one of the readings in your blog reflection.

My emotion was anticipation, I wanted to show myself as I moved through high school and the gradual development I went through. All of these actions formed me and the anticipation I had to finally graduate and be able to go to college.

If you go into the effects layout, then click on effects on the left side, you can find additional ways for transitioning content.

9. Post images of your work.

My color correction on a video and timeline

My intro with my emotion

My song Studio View, (my family ended up really liking my song)

I learned a lot more about building games with unreal engine.

2. What was easy?

Using the base assets.

3. What was challenging?

making custom assets look good.

4. How could your submission be improved?

better lighting, more busyness (kinda empty), and more custom textures and assets.

5. How could the professor improve the assignment for the next class?

introduce how to have randomness present within custom textures, it helps them look amazing.

6. How might you apply your knowledge in future assignments or work scenarios?

I can use my new knowledge of Unreal to kickstart my plan of eventually making a game,

7. How did a specific reading or video inspire or help you?

I watched a video on making textures more random which helped me make my custom texture look really good.

8. Post images of your work.

An overview of my gallery

I split it into quadrants, each with an asset modeled after a real-world item.

Q1, an umbrella.

A simple yet cool umbrella on a golden pedestal.

Q2. a weird chimney

kinda went for a train chimney thing here.

Q3, a Lamp

I like how this one came out, made it spark too.

Q4, a pop can.

Kinda wanted to make a wrap for it but didn’t know exactly how to go about it so i kept it a blank aluminum can.

Mid, the chess piece.

Gave it my custom texture so it would look like marble, looks cool with the smoke.

Project 2 ../../../2023/03/07/project-2/ Tue, 07 Mar 2023 21:15:05 +0000 https://comdma.com/palmisa2/?p=22 1. What did you learn?

How to use Figma and create hyperlinks behind text and images.

2. What was easy?

The basic controls of Figma were pretty intuitive which made them simple to use.

3. What was challenging?

Making everything flow into each other and keeping consistency.

4. How could your submission be improved?

Through taking Additional time to ensure everything is spaced perfectly and ensuring my pages aren’t too overwhelming or empty.

5. How could the professor improve the assignment for the next class?

Finishing the slides for resume and contact as it was difficult to know what was expected just by looking at the slides.

6. How might you apply your knowledge in future assignments or work scenarios?

If i ever have to create a website I now know some basics of design and creation i can apply during future opportunities.

7. How did a specific reading or video inspire or help you?

The Class videos helped tremendously as I was able to use them to get all the information I needed at a pace in line with how fast I worked, the slides also helped to give me an idea of what I should be doing.

8. Post images of your work.

My master template.

I went with a dark theme to ensure no unnecessary strain on the eyes and because it is my personal preference with websites.

My Home Page

I went with a simple image of myself and a short introduction of who I am and some of my experiences.

My Portfolio page.

I choose to make my portfolio show some of my favorite anime’s along with including links to where they can be watched by clicking on them.

My Resume page.

I wanted to make it a simple cluster of information that was easy to read through and gave some general important information for an employer.

My contact page.

A simple page containing my links and a (non-working) built in way of contacting me, I added my logo to fill space and add to the aesthetic.

Project 1 ../../../2023/02/28/project-1/ Tue, 28 Feb 2023 17:24:37 +0000 https://comdma.com/palmisa2/?p=13 1. What did you learn? – I learned alot about navigating photoshop and creating projects and artworks using it.

2. What was easy? – It wasn’t that difficult to use other than some shortcuts that were different than ones I had used previously.

3. What was challenging? – Making a card that looked good and using colors that complimented each other.

4. How could your submission be improved? – Spending more time thinking about how to improve the cards aesthetic.

5. How could the professor improve the assignment for the next class? – Maybe through showing previous works done by students to allow current students to get an idea of what they might want to do.

6. How might you apply your knowledge in future assignments or work scenarios? – I can apply my knowledge through using photoshop in a much more effective way.
7. How did a specific reading or video inspire or help you? – the recordings of class helped me tremendously as I would rewatch through class and follow along if I was ever confused or stuck on something.

8. Post images of your work.

The image I used (with masking the background). I took this picture at Alleghany State Park when I was there camping. it’s a little messed up here but the original file is from my phone.

The files of my card were too big to be embedded so here is a link to the inside of my card.

https://drive.google.com/file/d/1TFKjUfdlYW58hj31Pc6DDPZCtVF-bRAW/view?usp=sharing

here’s a low-quality picture of my inside that I was able to upload.

I went with a bee themed card with green as my main color and yellow as my secondary, I added various other colors with minor roles to make it seem more colorful and give it a sense of fullness.

And here is the outside.

https://drive.google.com/file/d/1yBr6IyRMIXcSsl24eXiwyqsDRrl57D9r/view?usp=sharing

Like the previous one a low-quality image of my outside.

I tried to keep the outside simple with just the flower which is actually the combination of a few different flower and other shapes that I messed with until I liked how it came out.
