Sports: in this stamp design I used Rancho and Rasa fonts, I chose this typeface since the bold and loud stroked rancho seemed to contrast well with the more professional Rasa style font
Cuisine: in this stamp design I used Rancho and PT serif fonts. My idea behind this was that rancho gave me somewhat of a tiki vibe while the pt serif kept a classy cuisine concept.
History: In this stamp I tried using a subtle font in the center as I felt Miami and its time of origin was the most important factor and complimented it with a history fact and dollar amount on the side in a font that is not to bold to take away from the center and picture, but interesting enough to read it
Architecture: In this stamp design I decided keep the fun Rancho font and add a large stroke to make sure the very bold Rancher’s font did not entirely take away from the bayfront park

  • During the completion of this project, I had learned how the importance of typeface and how they must complement each other within each design to keep a consistent tone of art. This project had also opened my mind as far as how Miami’s culture was developed and is now in the present.
  • The easiest part of this project was researching and finding the base photo that I wanted to use for each particular stamp.
  • The most challenging part was figuring out what fonts/ general design concept would really compliment my photo. I tried making everything blend together so that nothing looked forced or out of place.
  • My stamps could have improved with more research on actual stamps. Over the duration of my project, I had looked at a few actual stamps, however, I do believe that if I further researched for more stamps for each individual attribute of Miami, I may have been able to get a few more ideas on how to make them look authentic.
  • I believe that this project was able to bring together every aspect of digital design that we had used in the past classes. From typeface to color schemes, and even aspects from project 1. I believe I was well prepared for this project and the only way I could improve for future classes would be through refreshing on the older information from class.
  • This project has the potential to show up in many future work scenarios or classes. I believe that it is always necessary to have an appealing typeface in order to really give the reader a connection and idea of what you are really trying to send a message about. This project was entirely about appeal and how things can combine to look unforced with a steady flow of ideas. This type of work is seen in Marketing to persuade consumers to click and/ or read the ads
  • Since this project was a combination of all past class work, most of my inspiration came from all of our past class videos and past assignments. I had also viewed many of the past student’s submission in search for inspiration and ideas.

  • During the completion of this project I had learned how to combine images in order to create a metaphor, such as “time-flies”. Images can easily be combined to look as though they are one image by removing their backgrounds and placing them in a way that looks like they belong together.
  • The easiest part of this project was picking the metaphor of what I was going to create with the combined images. Creating the background pattern was also fairly easy due to prior practice.
  • The most challenging part of this project was removing excess backgrounds and combining them in a way that makes them look like they actually are just one image.
  • If I had personal access to photoshop I could have possibly improved/ cleaned up my project in certain ways, however, due to quarantine and costly subscription, figma and other editing apps worked well for me. I also have very little prior experience with combining images in this way.
  • In the future, when I have had more experience with photoshopping images I believe that I can improve. It would also be helpful to have more access with applications such as photoshop to further advance my skills in photoshopping.
  • I have a much better understanding of how to remove backgrounds on images and combine them in order to make them look like a single image. This understanding and experience will allow me to know my limits and make my future assignments look cleaner and better thought out.
  • I gained inspiration from the in class videos and other past blog posts from students. I also enjoyed and gained further knowledge from the many links posted by the professor on the project description.

  • During this project I had learned how colors can be used to set a mood. The mood being represented by the artwork can easily be altered by a slight shift in tone, tint, or saturation of a color. I also learned how different colors can appropriately compliment others in order to truly show the mood the artist wishes to present to the viewer.
  • The easiest part of this project was picking the colors from the wheel to create the color scheme frame/artboard.
  • The most challenging part of this project was using the new tools to, not only create the images on each artboard, but to add color and contrasts to show the proper characteristics in each image.
  • My submission could be improved through further use of color schemes, and more so, added practice with the use of designing tools, which were not as highly prioritized in this project as making sure the color schemes were correct.
  • In the future, when I can easily decipher colors that compliment each other best and in what images to use these colors, I do believe that I can create better artwork.
  • Future assignments should be much easier for me as there is not as much of a learning curve in finding and using these “new to me” tools.
  • I started my studying of this kind of artwork through the demos presented in class by the professor. I also returned to Smashing Magazines website as I found it to be the easiest external source to find what I was struggling with and eventually fix it. This added knowledge and inspiration from Smashing Magazine allowed me to have a complete recognition of what was being asked for in the project, allowing me to finish it with very few questions.

  • During this project I had learned how to use Gestalt’s design principles to create an image that portrays a story. In the end I knew much more about Gestalt’s principles and the overall uses of Figma than I had in the beginning.
  • The easiest part of this project was the actual designing of the artboards after I had thought of what I wanted in my head.
  • The most challenging part of this project was thinking of how I could connect a Gestalt design principle to the nursery rhyme of my choice (Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star).
  • I could improve on a project like this with further experience of the subject. By the end of the project I definitely had a better understanding of the assignment than I had in the beginning. With even further experience and knowledge I will gain from upcoming classes, any assignment similar to this should be much easier from the start.
  • In the future when I become more aware of Gestalt’s principles I believe that it would be much easier for me to come up with ideas and then create those ideas on my artboard.
  • Future assignment should be easier for me since I am much more comfortable using figma and understanding design laws than before I completed this project.
  • After watching demos from class and viewing the past project 1 presentations provided by the professor I had a much better understanding of what needed to be completed. I also had gained knowledge and inspiration from Smashing Magazine, which helped me through any additional questions I had
