What was easy? It was easy to come up with my location as New York City has many elements to choose from.

What was challenging? It was challenging to layout my stamps and find pictures that aligned with my color scheme for each stamp.

How could your submission be improved? I could have gone a more creative route by overlapping text and images.

How could the professor improve the assignment for the next class? I wish there was a checklist of the specifics that had to be completed/included in project 5 like what we were given for the past projects.

How might you apply your knowledge in future assignments or work scenarios? I will use this knowledge when creating graphics in future assignments, like altering the color of an image to fit the theme.

How did a specific reading or video inspire or help you? This website helped me understand more about Typography and what fonts are best used together.

What was easy? It was easy to find fonts that worked with each other and could be easily read.

What was challenging? It was challenging to fit all the words into the frame. Some frames had an odd number of words which made it harder to fit into a square shape without leaving blank spaces.

How could your submission be improved? I could have found fonts that were more unique or contrasted better.

How could the professor improve the assignment for the next class? I think this project was straight forward and all directions were clear.

How might you apply your knowledge in future assignments or work scenarios? When designing graphics, I will use this knowledge to create more unique patterns involving word play.

How did a specific reading or video inspire or help you? This article by New York University helped me better understand what fonts are appropriate and are legible. I referred to this when picking my own fonts for the project.

What was easy? It was easy to find both pictures that I wanted to merge together on Unsplash. There were many options to choose from on the website.

What was challenging? It was challenging to learn how to merge them together to create a seamless transition. I tried many approaches until I landed on my final design.

How could your submission be improved? I could have attempted to use Photoshop instead of Figma to get a better result as Figma was has more restrictions regarding image manipulation.

How could the professor improve the assignment for the next class? I believe that the assignment was explained well and there were also many examples to refer to for inspiration.

How might you apply your knowledge in future assignments or work scenarios? I want to do more content creation in the future, so this is a great starting point and introduction into that.

How did a specific reading or video inspire or help you? The article, “Making up Metaphors” by Medium helped me visualize different parts of common metaphors. This is what helped me create my overall project idea.

What was easy? It was easy to use the color picker and choose a color. It was also easy to build shapes in Figma.

What was challenging? It was challenging to come up with a design using only one color scheme. Sometimes things meshed together.

How could your submission be improved? I feel like I could have put more detail into the outer space landscape. It was hard to come up with new details for this particular one.

How could the professor improve the assignment for the next class? I think everything was organized and explained well for this project. I had no questions and I could easily go back to the lecture Powerpoint if I needed more information.

How might you apply your knowledge in future assignments or work scenarios? I never took a class about color schemes, so this knowledge will be helpful if/when I design graphics in the future for other classes or for a job.

How did a specific reading or video inspire or help you? This article by Smashing Magazine helped me understand the different terminologies to color theory. It was useful when creating my own designs for the project.

What was easy? It was easy to navigate Figma as I have used the software in a previous class. However, now I feel like I have an even better grasp of the website and its features.

What was challenging? It was challenging to figure out how to incorporate Gestalt into a six line nursery rhyme. I’ve never done anything like this before so it was a great learning experience.

How could your submission be improved? I could have spent a little more time figuring out a more detailed way to create my story. My project is a pretty simple take on Gestalt regarding the Jack and Jill nursery rhyme.

How could the professor improve the assignment for the next class? The assignment is fine the way it is. This was a great first project as it got me to think abstractly which is something that was very new to me, but I enjoyed learning something different.

How might you apply your knowledge in future assignment and work scenarios? Figma is a software that I expect to see in the near future with both school assignment and work scenarios, so I will continue to improve my skills in this particular website. Regarding Gestalt, I now know more about how to use abstract illustrations in order to create a story, so that can help with future graphic design classes.

How did a specific reading or video inspire or help you? The article, “Gestalt Principles Applied in Design,” by William Craig helped me further my understanding of Gestalt and what each principle meant. He incorporate examples into the article which really helped me gain a visual of what each principle could look like.
