I learned how to construct a 3D figure using Blender. I now understand how to create simple designs and elaborate on them by sculpting additional features onto the original figure.
This type of digital design was very unfamiliar to me so I wouldn’t say that any piece of this project was necessarily easy.
It was very challenging trying to keep up with the Maya instructions with Blender and also manipulating the figure/screen on a laptop.
I would have liked to add a more unique texture to it or sharpen some of the points, however, I wasn’t sure how to go about either of those as I was very unfamiliar with the program and couldn’t translate the Maya instructions over to Blender.
Just more instruction on Blender would have been helpful!
It would be really cool to create a 3D design and even have it printed one day, so I have a tangible piece of the digital art I created.

Project 2: business card

In this project I learned the importance of balancing fonts, colors, and line weight to create a cohesive and branded look on a professional business card.
The right side of the card was fairly easy. I enjoy spacing out text and playing around with the size and weight of certain fonts to contrast with other parts of the text.
The logo itself was challenging. I still struggle to create and manipulate lines and shapes freehanded. It definitely stunted my creativity.
If I had better practice with line creation, I may have been able to be more creative with shape.
Perhaps only using one program and teaching us step by step how to use it. I was overwhelmed at learning a new program and also trying to keep up with the information provided during class.
I could use this knowledge/skill when creating icons, logos, shapes, and sketches to spice up a piece of marketing content.

Project 1

In this project I learned all of the basics of photoshop. I was not previously familiar with it, so each step of the project I developed new skills. I learned everything from inserting an image, layering it with other images, and making it pop; to incorporating text that fits the mood of the piece and warping it around images.

2. It took a while to get used to even little tasks like changing an images size, but once I got the hang of it I found I really enjoyed creating collages.

3. It was most challenging to learn “type on a path” and work with text.

4. I would improve this submission perhaps by printing it on a nice card stock paper and possibly making the front cover look a little more cohesive.

5. It would be helpful to have a full outline listed on D2L with all of the requirements for this project along with helpful links to the demonstrations for each requirement.

6. I would love to use this new skill in marketing campaigns and for social media as I dive into my more creative side.

7. I mostly used Pinterest and other social media for the inspiration for the layout; however, my friend, whose birthday card this is, obviously was the biggest inspiration for this piece.
