  • What did you learn?
  • I learned a bit about music creation. It was something I’d never tried out but I enjoyed it.

    • What was easy?

Coming up with the idea was easy. I sat down, thought about some common fears, and made the movie based on those.

    • What was challenging?

Editing the film took up a lot of time. It was worth it in the end because I am happy with my product.

    • How could your submission be improved?

I’m happy with my project, I don’t feel as if there’s much to improve.

    • How could the professor improve the assignment for the next class?

There’s not much to improve upon. Maybe take away the idea of a film on emotion and let students decide a topic that isn’t too boxed in to let creativity sprout more.

    • How might you apply your knowledge in future assignments or work scenarios?

I hope to continue with motion design in the future so the editing tips and tricks I learned will hopefully help out.

    Project 3: Game Design ../../../2022/12/08/project-3-game-design/ Thu, 08 Dec 2022 19:36:14 +0000 https://comdma.com/dma201b/?p=16
  • What did you learn?
  • I learned how to use unity and create a world. It’s something I never thought I’d be able to do and was surprised at how easy it was.

    • What was easy?

I had the idea from the start that I wanted to make a desert with an oasis and a massive mountain to climb up. The mountain would be the main point and there would be other settings across the desert.

    • What was challenging?

The mountain was very hard to create. I tried to make it as climbable as I could, and I had some success with it, but it could have been done a lot better.

    • How could your submission be improved?

I think adding a bit more detail among the paths so that it doesn’t get super boring. I had a difficult time coming up with interesting paths in between the main areas, which lead to a couple rock formations and not much else.

    • How could the professor improve the assignment for the next class?

There isn’t much to improve upon. It was a very fun and interesting opportunity.

    • How might you apply your knowledge in future assignments or work scenarios?

It taught me about how to create 3d objects in a 3d world. I hope to use more 3d modeling in my future.

    Project 2: Web Design ../../../2022/10/27/project-2-web-design/ Thu, 27 Oct 2022 21:59:33 +0000 https://comdma.com/dma201b/?p=13
  • What did you learn?
  • I learned how to create an appealing and fun website that is able to showcase my abilities.

    • What was easy?

Coming up with the color scheme was very easy for me as I had the idea of mainly blue. I slapped a gradient onto the header, thought it looked good, then used a color scheme of black, blue, and white throughout the project.

    • What was challenging?

Coming up with how the website should look. I had the feel down first because of the color scheme. I wanted to go for a cool and exciting look because of this. I think I ended up doing a good job.

    • How could your submission be improved?

I guess it could be more detailed. It’s a little simple. I had some other ideas such as a header that would have a slime like droop down effect, but I wasn’t sure how to implement it without changing the entire feel and design of the project.

    • How could the professor improve the assignment for the next class?

There’s not much to improve upon. It was laid out perfectly with a lab right before the actual project. The only thing I find odd is the code pen lab. Maybe it’s because I wasn’t in attendance for that lab, but it seemed unrelated to the project itself.

    • How might you apply your knowledge in future assignments or work scenarios?

Try to apply more fancy design techniques and work with minimal colors. The less colors you have on a project the more atmospheric it can be. Color scheme is great to play around with and it can make the viewer feel differently depending on color.

    Project 1: Graphic Design ../../../2022/10/06/project-1-graphic-design/ Thu, 06 Oct 2022 18:35:23 +0000 https://comdma.com/dma201b/?p=7
  • What did you learn?
  • I learned how to use photoshop better. I worked on smaller details to help Santa blend into the cookie house.

    • What was easy?

Designing the back and middle portions of the card. I wanted them to be Christmas cookie themed, and I did just that. There didn’t need to be a lot of work put into it because the front of the card draws the most attention.

    • What was challenging?

Getting the lighting correct on Santa. There’s a light at the top where Santa is, and I tried different ways to make it look like Santa was being lit up by the light. I ended up using a shadow to make it look like different parts of the cookie were brighter than others.

    • How could your submission be improved?

If I didn’t have unexpected printer problems, I would have likely printed it out again and do little touch ups. The top of the text is cut off slightly. I believe it was a printing issue.

    • How could the professor improve the assignment for the next class?

I don’t think there’s any aspect that the professor needs to improve on. It was my own time management that led to my failures.

    • How might you apply your knowledge in future assignments or work scenarios?

Give myself more time to work. Problems will likely occur again. Keeping this in mind for next project, I will try to spend more time on it to do my very best.

    • How did a specific reading or video found outside of class inspire or help you?

Some of the articles on print design helped me understand that printing a card is a very different thing compared to creating one in photoshop. 123RF was one of the articles I used.
