  • What did you learn? In project 4, I learned how to arrange elements in a grid system to make it look aesthetically pleasing for a stamp design. I also learned that pairing serif and san serif fonts look great in contrast with each other.
  • What was easy? The easy part of this project was finding the images and materials to design the stamps with.
  • What was challenging? I found it challenging to find different fonts that fit the theme of the project. I also found it challenging to arrange the pictures and the words so that they fit in the rule of thirds grid system.
  • How could your submission be improved? My submission could probably be improved by making the fonts different colors or changing the colors of the squares completely.
  • How could I improve the assignment for the next class? You could improve the assignment by letting the students choose a theme that is not a place. That way there are many more possibilities on what the stamps could look like.
  • How might you apply your knowledge in future assignments or work scenarios? I could apply my knowledge to design graphics like the stamps in the future because I have a good grip on the rule of thirds.
  • How did a specific reading or video inspire or help you? Something that helped me in this project was a reading on the rule of thirds. I also looked up some stamp designs on google to get an idea of what I would do.

  • What did you learn? With this project, I learned how to create a pattern using Figma and the plugins. I also learned how to combine bitmap images in photoshop to create a scene.
  • What was easy? The easy part of this project was combining to elements using photoshop as I am pretty experienced with it now.
  • What was challenging? The challenging part of this project was creating a pattern using the pattern generator. There was a lot of experimenting going on to see how the pattern would look when I tweaked the settings. Eventually I thought it was good enough and then manually moved some of the elements of the pattern to make it appear more random, which took quite a bit of time.
  • How could your submission be improved? My submission could be improved by incorporating the pattern I designed into the photoshop file. It has proven difficult thus far.
  • How could I improve the assignment for the next class? I don’t see anything wrong with the way this project was handled.
  • How might you apply your knowledge in future assignments or work scenarios? I will apply the knowledge I learned for this project to hopefully make better photoshop art and make it look more believable.
  • How did a specific reading or video inspire or help you? A video I watched on YouTube was very helpful in teaching me how to use layer masks in order to get the apple of the women’s eye.
  • Note: I could not add a picture of the project as a PNG because when I tired it said the file size was too big for the site.

    Project 2: Color ../../../2021/12/13/project-2-color/ ../../../2021/12/13/project-2-color/#respond Mon, 13 Dec 2021 17:18:51 +0000 https://comdma.com/dma214/?p=8 Continue reading Project 2: Color]]>
  • What did you learn? With this project, I learned about all the different colorways you can use. I learned how to use colors to create depth in my landscapes by using different shades and tints of the same color. I also learned how to create a landscape with simple shapes.
  • What was easy? The easy part of this project was choosing a colorway for each landscape slide. Just by looking at the theme I instantly knew what colors I wanted to use.
  • What was challenging? The challenging part of this project was again, putting all the elements together. I spent hours arranging the pieces of the landscape so they would convey the feeling of the theme. It was also a lot of experimenting with what worked and what didn’t.
  • How could your submission be improved? My submission could be improved by adding some more things into some of the landscapes. As I look them over there is probably more I can add especially in the desert artboard.
  • How could I improve the assignment for the next class? You could improve the assignment by making one of the artboards a “pick your own theme” kind of thing so that students have the opportunity to make a landscape that they might be interested in.
  • How might you apply your knowledge in future assignments or work scenarios? I might apply the skills I learned to create very compelling and detailed landscapes maybe for a cartoon of some sort.
  • How did a specific reading or video inspire or help you? A specific video I found on YouTube helped me a lot with making landscapes. in particular it helped me to understand depth of field better and how to create it using different shades of a color.

  • What did you learn? In this project, I learned how to create a story essentially with no words and only pictures. I also learned how to create unique designs only using primitive shapes like circles and squares to get the point of the story across.
  • What was easy? The easy part of this project was picking a story to work with since it was a simple nursery rhyme.
  • What was challenging? The challenging part of this project was arranging the elements in such a way so that it would get the point of the story across. I was constantly arranging the shapes and resizing them to see what looked the best. It was mostly experimentation which made it more difficult.
  • How could your submission be improved? I could improve my submission by making it more complex. I know simple is sometimes better but I still feel that the elements in a few of the slides are lacking.
  • How could I improve the assignment for the next class? Honestly this project was very good to start off with and I don’t think there’s anything to correct.
  • How might you apply your knowledge in future assignments or work scenarios? I could apply the knowledge I gained from this project to make a storyboard of my idea for a project. I could also use the knowledge I gained to create more abstract work in the future.
  • How did a specific reading or video inspire or help you? Something that inspired me was the images I found of google when I searched up the Jack and Jill nursery rhymes. I thought to myself, how could I make these scenes simpler for my project, and then I just started experimenting.
