Starting on this final project, it took me long and hard to find a theme fitting what I trying to capture: the feeling of safety through the word of ‘Home’. Between learning about the facets of premiere and digging though the archives of my phone to find what I was looking for; this was the longest project to complete overall. However, this is not the most challenging aspect. It was the exporting of archived videos that took me an entire class day preparing and emailing and exporting again that was just downright frustrating. Editing the footage was the cakewalk for this assignment as seeing as how long it took just for me to find a theme; It probably would not be terribly difficult to have students start thinking about this assignment earlier in the semester vs the last few weeks. From what I have learned, this project helped me narrow my career choices away from footage editing (of which I have been debating since I joined the class). YouTube helped exponentially once again (4/4) for the finer points of this assignment.

Starting into this project, I was positively ecstatic. My enthusiasm shown through the conception ease of multiple chess pieces on photoshop (this was the easiest part) … only to come face to face with what was most challenging for me (the software). Maya shut down all hope of enjoying 3D modeling. Ultimately, going to YouTube and using outside tutorials helped me overcome this with understanding of how Maya was different than photoshop. I would very much like to have an option of making a “class chessboard” featuring a piece from each student in future classes; this sounds neat. Seeing as how I am a computer science major, this project helped me dip my toes into potentially something I may want to do if coding becomes too much. YouTube is such a great resource for this project as it saved me the confusion multiple times

Starting into this project, I learned how much I absolutely despise vectors. For me, the easiest part of this assignment was the transition from illustrator to photoshop and coming up with the logo was probably what kept me stumped the longest. If I could redo this assignment, I would probably practice more with vectors and affiliated software. The professor could possibly encourage in class demonstrations by each student on share screen to promote/make clear that everyone is at an equal consensus with the software. As cruel as it sounds, I do not necessarily see myself using vectors soon, but it might just be the photoshop hype from the last project still speaking.

Starting into this project, I had to familiarize myself with the layout of Photoshop (including all tools and programs) The learning curve provided the most challenge for me seeing as I only ever used gimp up to this point. Easily the easiest part, and what I enjoyed most, was exploring the different paint/erase tools and I think I would go more into what I can make with them should I have the option to redo this. For future classes, some functions of photoshop did not necessarily stay in memory and time stamps could be incredibly helpful for when I went back to the class videos. I can already attest to how often I have used photoshop since I finished this project (it has been a lot) and I can foresee using this, potentially, for any CSC jobs that I am planning on going for after university. The best supplement material for this was mainly online tutorials back when I was trying to get over the learning curve.
