This was made using Adobe Illustrator. Many of the designs within are made in an isometric style, while some just flat. I chose a bright and eye catching color theme to make the poster more attractive. This poster is something I really wanted to make for myself, as I often make rice pudding, and having a cute poster like this in my kitchen seemed nice to me.

What did you learn?
I learned how to use both photoshop and Adobe Illustrator. For photoshop I learned more about how to use filters to enhance or aid the making of an artwork, and for Illustrator I learned how to use the pen tool and ways to make a photo look more stylized.

What was easy?
The easiest part of this project was making the photoshop art, I found I was more used to this way of making art, as it was something that was not entirely new to me.

What was challenging?
The most challenging part of this project was figuring out how to color in the illustrator work, I found it difficult as every time I did crt+z it would undo more than one action, which was frustrating.

How could your submission be improved?
My photoshop submission could be improved by spending more time on the face and making it more stylized. I found that the face that i did in photoshop did not turn out exactly as I had hoped.

How could I improve the assignment for the next class?
This assignment could be improved by showing more stylized portraits that could be an example of what students can do, towards the end of the project, instead of customizing a portrait with filters, I was much more interested in customizing it with drawing/coloring.

How might you apply your knowledge in future assignments or work scenarios?
I could use my new knowledge of illustrator to make simple graphics for other projects and classes, or even to further improve/customize my portfolio.

How did a specific reading or video inspire or help you?
I really like this video that was shared with us: link. I liked how this technique made the portrait look more hand drawn, as you would add your own touch ups as the finishing touches. This is what majorly inspired my photoshop piece.

What did you learn?
I learned how to augment graphics into video and how to work with video in Figma.

What was easy?
The easiest part of this project was coming up with a good color scheme and fonts that matched the aesthetic of the app.

What was challenging?
The most challenging part of this project was adding the graphics to the video. I ran into many problems as my graphics do not pop up in the same place every time. To solve this problem I made it so the characters were in a frame that was the same size as the video, placing them correctly in their video sized frame. This allowed me to just swap the overlays and not have any issues with opening overlays and the characters either not showing up or showing up in the wrong place.

How could your submission be improved?
My submission could be improved by going further with how the app would work and adding more functionality/interaction to the app. Some buttons do not do things still, as I was mostly focusing on the video part of this project. I would also like to improve my graphics and their animations more to make the app look more appealing.

How could I improve the assignment for the next class?
This assignment could be improved by giving more examples of good AR app designs, such as ones that already exist in popular apps. Maybe requiring students to learn more about an AR app online.

How might you apply your knowledge in future assignments or work scenarios?
Knowing how to work with video in Figma will be useful for possible future designs/apps/sites I make using Figma. The interactivity that I learned in the project will help me in many scenarios, as learning new ways to design things and create graphics is always useful in the design line of work.

How did a specific reading or video inspire or help you?

I learned how to make a visually appealing website in Figma and the starting process of how to transfer it into code.

What was easy?
The easiest part of this project was likely coming up with the color scheme and the fonts for the pages.

What was challenging?
The most challenging part of this project was thinking of the layout for each page and what content would be on each page.

How could your submission be improved?
My submission could be improved by adding more design elements to my website. I could also have improved organization or layout on my pages.

How could I improve the assignment for the next class?
This assignment could be improved by going more in depth on visual studio.

How might you apply your knowledge in future assignments or work scenarios?
Knowing how to make an appealing portfolio is important for any designer.

How did a specific reading or video inspire or help you?

What did you learn?
I learned how to create interactive buttons and how color and layout can really influence the overall feel of an app. I also learned how to display part of my app to make it look more interest, appearing like a poster for an app.

What was easy?
The easiest part of this project was coming up with a good color scheme using the plugin coolers. This plugin makes finding color schemes that look good much easier.

What was challenging?
The most challenging part of this project was creating the drop down menus for the time, date, and month. I did not end up making it perfectly, but I did get the general idea of how I wanted this function to work.

How could your submission be improved?
My submission could be improved by adding more interactivity to the buttons in the header and footer. I would have also liked to make the time/date picker work and look better, but I was unsure of how to make it line up properly and make the numbers stop at the right location.

How could I improve the assignment for the next class?
This assignment could be improved by going more in depth on how to create interactions for the app. Maybe requiring students to make one complex feature for their app.

How might you apply your knowledge in future assignments or work scenarios?
Making components and basic interactions in Figma will be useful for future projects I design. This feature allows me to make a more interactive and real feeling app interface. This will allow making a real functioning app to be more easier as all the design features are all thought out and visible to see.

How did a specific reading or video inspire or help you?
This video helped me figure out how to make part of the drop down menu. However, my time picker did not turn out as nice as theirs did. This could be due to the fact that the video is not in English. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=arRdAy5wy08

I learned how to combine font, color, and images in order to make a stamp.

What was easy?
The easiest part was likely just coming up for the theme of each of the stamps and picking a color theme.

What was challenging?
The most challenging part was making the pictures/art for each stamp.

How could your submission be improved?
Having more unique designs for each stamp, as a lot of the formatting looks too similar.

How could the professor improve the assignment for the next class?
Have examples of stamps that people have made in the past.

How might you apply your knowledge in future assignments or work scenarios?
I could use this when designing things in the future, especially when thinking of layout color and text font/placement.

How did a specific reading or video inspire or help you?
What inspired me was this picture: Tokyo Stamps Vector 379656 Vector Art at Vecteezy. This image helped me in figuring out what my stamps theme should be, and what kind of style I should go for.

I learned how different types of fonts will complement each other.

What was easy?
The easiest part was likely just thinking of what each frame would look like.

The most challenging part was making sure that all the type would line up well and look good and organized.

How could your submission be improved?
Maybe having more contrast in my Frames.

Show more fonts that are easy to customize in Figma.

How might you apply your knowledge in future assignments or work scenarios?
I could use this in design whenever I find myself using type.

Metaphor: Art is the mirror to the soul

What did you learn?
I learned how to cut images together and how to make a pattern.

What was easy?
The easiest part was making the pattern.

What was challenging?
The most challenging part was finding the images that would work well with the metaphor that I chose. It was also difficult to think of what to make with the metaphor that I chose.

How could your submission be improved?
My submission could be improved by making a better background, and by finding better quality images.

How could the professor improve the assignment for the next class?
This assignment could be improved by making an easier to understand tutorial.

How might you apply your knowledge in future assignments or work scenarios?
I’ll be able to cut images together using photoshop, any photoshop skills I feel are useful for me.

How did a specific reading or video inspire or help you?
What inspired me the most was this article: 55 Best Metaphors About Art (enlightio.com). This helped me to find a metaphor that I liked and felt that I could make into an image.
