DMA Project 2

I really enjoyed this project along with all the labs it had throughout the way. I learned how to use Figma, which I think may be the best program I have ever used. I love the idea of being able to create something, but Figma brings it to the whole next level. You can not only create an app, but you can use the app. You are able to make a button, and when it is clicked on, it is redirected to another page. I incorporated a home button, a back button, and a start button on the first slide of the app.

I thought it was easy to use the program because I really enjoyed the fact that you can view and run your project. It made it much easier to do the project because I wanted to make it the best I could and it was portrayed as not only visible, but also interactive. I also thought it was much easier than I thought to make a basic app than I made it out to be. I know this was just a very basic app but I thought there would have been more tasks assigned to the computer than there were to complete it because I inspected what I made and the coding didn’t seem that terrible.

I found it challenging to explore what we didn’t learn. Photoshop was easier to do tasks that we didn’t learn yet, but it was much harder to explore new tasks in Figma. I added in a moving arrow gif which was easy but hard at the same time. It was easy in the sense that you could just save a gif from the web, but it was hard in the sense that those weren’t that good so I had to copy it to photoshop, and alter it from there.

I could improve my submission by adding a few more slides to the app but besides that, I think I did a pretty good job. I could have also added more color to make it more appealing but I don’t know how to do that yet and I tried looking into to it and was still struggling.

Once again, I don’t think the professor could have made it better, but if I had to choose something, it would be to go over making the app look more colorful with a better appearance than just a solid color background, but, then again, we were already learning new stuff every class so it would have been hard to fit that in.

I can apply this knowledge into my future because I am looking at doing business or marketing and computer science and design is relevant in both of those. I will be able to use the knowledge of Figma if my future company needs help designing a web page because it is a good way to view it on any device.

The article that helped me most in the project was “Vector vs. Raster: What Do I Use?” by Carrie Cousins. Honestly, none of the articles personally helped me too much but this one was able to give the insight to be creative. I couldn’t use a logo because I didn’t have time to make one, but I used a gif arrow to bring a little bit more life to the app.

This is a screen shot of my app. The launch button redirects you to the second slide, the back button in the top left redirects you back a page, the home button in the bottom right redirects you to the first slide, and the profile button redirects you to the past slide. In addition, the red arrow moves up and down when you open the side so you know where to click and for more movement with the app because there wasn’t any besides that and the slides transitions.
