I really enjoyed this project. I love playing games as I know many people do, but this allowed me to gain some knowledge as to what goes into making a game. I learned a lot about unit and how it runs. I learned how to import different asset packages to enhance your project. I also learned how too many trees can slow down your project from running, as well as how drastically it does so. I thought it was easy to have motivation to do this project. It was easy to create the terrain and add your own aspect to it through the height of the mountains to the style of ground used to walk on. I thought it was challenging to get the coin to work. I tried to get it to work for probably about 1-2 hours and I still haven’t been able to do so. There are so many steps that seem to work sometimes and not others and that was hard for me. I also thought it was challenging to save the project as I am submitting it later than the normal date because I saved it but not the correct way, so I can submit my project yet. To improve this assignment, the professor could dedicate one more day if possible to explain the coin in depth and then walk around the rest of the class because I had a problem with the coin but I could never ask because so many people needed help and I didn’t get around to. I can apply this knowledge to my future by using the creativity I broadened with life. Creativity is a huge thing to be able to do so having good creativity skills is helpful in all aspects of life especially with careers. The article that helped me most for this specific project was https://www.nytimes.com/2018/05/02/style/fortnite.html because it talked about how people love watching others play video games and how big of a thing it is through games like fortnite. This inspired me to make a better game because it seemed as something to strive for. I wish I could have made the character move faster though because it talks a while to create the maze and wit the huge maze and slow person, it was boring after the first time.

I really enjoyed this project along with all the labs it had throughout the way. I learned how to use Figma, which I think may be the best program I have ever used. I love the idea of being able to create something, but Figma brings it to the whole next level. You can not only create an app, but you can use the app. You are able to make a button, and when it is clicked on, it is redirected to another page. I incorporated a home button, a back button, and a start button on the first slide of the app.

I thought it was easy to use the program because I really enjoyed the fact that you can view and run your project. It made it much easier to do the project because I wanted to make it the best I could and it was portrayed as not only visible, but also interactive. I also thought it was much easier than I thought to make a basic app than I made it out to be. I know this was just a very basic app but I thought there would have been more tasks assigned to the computer than there were to complete it because I inspected what I made and the coding didn’t seem that terrible.

I found it challenging to explore what we didn’t learn. Photoshop was easier to do tasks that we didn’t learn yet, but it was much harder to explore new tasks in Figma. I added in a moving arrow gif which was easy but hard at the same time. It was easy in the sense that you could just save a gif from the web, but it was hard in the sense that those weren’t that good so I had to copy it to photoshop, and alter it from there.

I could improve my submission by adding a few more slides to the app but besides that, I think I did a pretty good job. I could have also added more color to make it more appealing but I don’t know how to do that yet and I tried looking into to it and was still struggling.

Once again, I don’t think the professor could have made it better, but if I had to choose something, it would be to go over making the app look more colorful with a better appearance than just a solid color background, but, then again, we were already learning new stuff every class so it would have been hard to fit that in.

I can apply this knowledge into my future because I am looking at doing business or marketing and computer science and design is relevant in both of those. I will be able to use the knowledge of Figma if my future company needs help designing a web page because it is a good way to view it on any device.

The article that helped me most in the project was “Vector vs. Raster: What Do I Use?” by Carrie Cousins. Honestly, none of the articles personally helped me too much but this one was able to give the insight to be creative. I couldn’t use a logo because I didn’t have time to make one, but I used a gif arrow to bring a little bit more life to the app.

This is a screen shot of my app. The launch button redirects you to the second slide, the back button in the top left redirects you back a page, the home button in the bottom right redirects you to the first slide, and the profile button redirects you to the past slide. In addition, the red arrow moves up and down when you open the side so you know where to click and for more movement with the app because there wasn’t any besides that and the slides transitions.

I am fascinated with computers so I took two computer electives at my high school. I took CAD 2 and Computer Forensics which is what tied into this project. We used photoshop a number of times but primarily for our unit on image alterations where we would alter out anything from a car on a street to adding in a face on Mount Rushmore. This allowed me the opportunity to have some prior knowledge going into class however we learned different actions than most of the ones used to create the Halloween cards. Throughout the project, I learned how easy it was to zoom in and out or move the view of the task you were working on. I also learned how to make a card not only with a front and back but also a middle which I found very interesting. I also learned how to wrap text around a shape drawn or an image by making a shape or line around the image.

I thought it was easy to import images as well as apply color and the text to the card but it got harder when you had to make the inside and all the small steps to make the background a smart image or so that the pixels wouldn’t change up the image if it was enlarged.

I also found it challenging to have to learn a new way of doing something because in my Forensics class we learned how to erase where you wanted an image gone but I never thought enough about it to realize you can’t bring that back, so it was hard to adjust to using the black and white drawing tool to hide or show the background. It was also hard to do the front cover because I decided I wanted to do something different so I imported the image of the skull and put it on top of the island but it was time consuming to need to make the island look like it fit as well as making the tall grass pieces go over the island and skull to make it look more realistic.

I could improve my submission by adding more color to the card because it is all black but at the same time I like how it has a dark and eerie appearance to it.

I don’t think the professor could improve the assignment honestly. He prepared us well and even recorded what we did daily so you couldn’t say you didn’t know what you were doing.

I will be able to apply the knowledge I gained through this assignment into future assignments because I now know how to import a smart object, how to hide or show more of a background, and just a better general feel for photoshop overall.

There was a specific article that helped me in my project and it was How to Design a Font by Malia Wollan. It helped me in an unheard of way by making my project last longer than it needed to. After reading about how much goes into making a font, I really took my time choosing one because I had much more input into not only how long it took to make but more so how each font has a personality and it changes the way the card is viewed.
