This project taught me a lot about being creative and thinking outside of the box. I had to think of a clever metaphor and came to the metaphor “Time Is Love”. I thought about different love languages and decided to do the love language of spending time with someone.

I placed a picture of a heart on top of a watch to represent time is love. I really like the way that the heart fits onto the watch and found that to be the easiest part. It was also easy to put a pattern in the background.

As never taking a DMA class before I found it really challenging to photoshop and learn how to do that, but once I did it it felt like a weight lifted off of my shoulders.

I would probably change the symbols that I used if I were to do anything different about this project. I wasn’t sure what colors to use with each symbols but the heart and clock was key for the pattern.

I can use this information in my future to photoshop anything that I want to. I don’t find myself photoshoping a lot but now I know how to if I ever choose to do so.

I really enjoyed this project because it allowed me to get creative all while admiring the beauty behind Buffalo, NY. I like the background pictures being used as well as the two different font’s

I learned about mixing font’s, but also choosing one’s that will get the attention from the audience that is being desired. I found it easy to include pictures, mess around with their saturation and contrast to sort of give a mixed artsyle look.

I found it challenging to use different color’s. Since I did my project on Buffalo I only really think of two different color schemes; Red and Blue, and Yellow and Blue. I didn’t wan’t to include any other colors because I felt like it would take away the feeling of Buffalo.

My submission could be improved by working on the different color schemes. I also think it could be improved in the aspect of the ‘history’ category. I don’t hold too much knowledge on Buffalo’s history, so I just included a picture of Canisius from the 1900’s.

I really enjoy this type of art because you can be creative and mix and match however you choose to do so. This project can help me out in the future if I wanted to continue to do this type of look. It blends together everything we learned about like color scheme and typography.

I learned a lot while completing this project including color schemes, colors that are complimentary and color’s that don’t work well together. I also learned a lot about using different shapes to create a whole image, going back to Gestalt Principles. I learned the theory of scale and if you want something to present like its further away you have to change the size.

A part of the project that I found to be very easy was coming up with idea’s for each scheme. The hard part was figuring out how I would be trying to accomplish each idea.

My submission could be improved by adding small details in some of the pictures. For example, the Arid Desert is sort of bland. Going back and including small details could really pull the piece together. I also could have done a greater job at widening the color schemes. Just because I was specific themes such as analogous does not mean I couldn’t have varied in ways such as saturation.

I could apply my knowledge of color theory in every day life. Making advertisements and trying to get the attention of an individual. Or making signs. I plan on decorating my house when I grow up and this taught me a lot about what mixes and what matches.
