Project 4

The emotion I chose was happiness. Happiness is something that everyone needs during these rough times and there is no better feeling in the world than pure happiness. The images and videos I chose include all the places and things that make me happy including my Florida home, Disney world, hiking, the beach, etc. I really enjoyed making this video because it reminded me of how lucky I am, how amazing and beautiful the world we live in is, and how you can always find light even during these dark times.

Project 3

During this project I learned how to create terrain, add texture, add dirt and grass to my terrain, add trees, edit the direction and colors for the light, add a person, and add walls and platforms. I think the easiest part was creating the terrain because it was similar to things that we learned in photoshop. The most challenging thing for me was creating a maze with the walls and platforms just because it was tedious to make sure I had the right angles and height. My submission can be improved by lowering the height of my maze walls in order to see the mountains. The knowledge that I learn in this project can help me with future gaming assignments and creating games if I desire in the future. Sometimes I play Fortnite creative mode challenges with my brother and my boyfriend and my maze was inspired by these.

Project 2 Blog Reflection

During project 2 I learned how to edit code. Some specific things I learned was how to make font bold, how to edit spacing, and how to change font colors.

The easiest thing to do was to change the information on the resume to my information.
The most challenging thing to do was to edit the spacing of the resume.

My submission could be improved by editing the format of the resume to something cooler and also fill in more information.

In future assignments or work scenarios I can use this knowledge to make or edit a website to how I want it to be.

I was inspired to make my resume more colorful because my resume I have now is just black and white and for this project I wanted to do something more fun and unique.

Project 1 Blog Reflection

While completing project one, I learned how to type words around a shape, fade images, turn an image black and white, and create a shape with the pen tool. Things that were easy in this project were adding type and masking the image to only one side of the card. Things that I found challenging in this project were, cutting out my pink heart image, editing it, and sizing it, and creating a heart shape with the pen tool. I think my submission could be improved by changing up the fonts and playing around more with different fonts. I was inspired by the recent holiday of Valentine’s Day and my love for Florida to create this specific card. Overall the knowledge I learned can help me edit photos for future assignments and create different things, such as business cards and flyers, in my future career.

Lab 1 Discussion Questions

  • Why did you choose the pixels in part one? What about the image in part 2?
    • In part one we selected the pixels in the noise in order to create a square and be able to add or delete from it later. In part two we selected the pixels in the image. Selecting the pixels in the image taught us to select only certain parts of the image in order to change the color and other things in only one part of the image.
    • These pixels were chosen in order to have a higher resolution picture, which means that the image appears crisp and at a higher quality.
  • What happened in step 12?
    • In step 12 we are confirming the transformation in the previous step.
  • What could this image be used for?
    • This image could be used on a school website or a school blog. However, depending on the type of media the resolution may need to be changed.
  • What other ways can you think of to generate imagery from scratch?
    • Other ways you can generate imagery from scratch is drawing, photography, imagination, use of a sketch book, and for inspiration I would use past memories and experiences.

Lab 1 Reflection

In Lab 1 of Intro to Digital Media, I learned how to use photoshop. Specifically, I learned things like inserting an image, adding noise to the picture, zooming in and out, editing the pixels of the picture, using the marquee tool, and zipping and unzipping a file. The easiest parts for me were inserting the image and practicing zooming in and out. The hardest parts were using the marquee tool and adding noise to the picture. I have never used photoshop before, so these things were foreign to me. I could improve my submission by trying different things with photoshop by editing my background, adding more pictures and sizing the pictures differently. For future assignments, I could apply these skills I used in photoshop to edit photos for my blog posts and projects. I could also use these skills in future companies I work for when creating presentations, working on flyers and many other things. Overall, this lab was fun, informational and allowed us to be creative in our own way.
