Reflection Blog:

I learnt about mostly about strokes and fill from this project. I did not really know about them before this project. Now I know why my pen tools sometimes acted weird when I do other projects before. It was because the fill option was on. Now I understand when to turn on the fill option and when to turn it off. I also didn’t know about dashed lines. I found that really cool and useful. I also learnt about symbols from Illustrator as well as the symbol spray tools. I did not know they exist.

I also think that my pen tools skills are improving. I could use the pen tools easily in this project whereas I struggled a lot to use them in the earlier projects. I am not saying that I am now very good at it but I believed I improved a lot.

Reflection:

It was a very fun project. Had a lot fun and was really cool.

From this project, I learned how to trace an image and create patterns in the Illustrator. I found the tracing image technique really cool and useful. I am doing a web development project in one of my computer science class and I found myself looking vector images on internet for my project. And It is not easy to find free to use ones. Now that I learned how to trace image in illustrator it will be useful in my future needs for vector images. For example, if I want a person logo I could just find a picture person and trace it in the illustrator to get a person logo in vector.

I had a very hard time using the pen tool in previous project. However, I am more familiar with the pen tool and had little to no trouble in using it opposed to how much I struggle using it in the previous project.

I did not have any serious problems or issues in doing this project. However, I had some issues with the “strokes” of the logo. The issue was that when I resize the size of the logo to smaller size the strokes of the cow were so thick that it covers up the whole cow in the logo. So, instead of a cow, it is just a black shape of a cow. I had to adjust the size of the strokes individually to solve the issue. Apart from that I had no issues.

Reflection:

I learned how to create backgrounds, make foregrounds, remove backgrounds and define patterns. In this project, I created my backgrounds by using the gradient tool or patterns that I made myself.

I made foregrounds for this project using tools like the Quick Selection tool, Magnetic tool, and the Pen tool. Out of these tools, my favorite was the “Quick Selection Tool”. The reason being is that the tool was very easy to use compared to the other two. I had a hard time while using the “Pen Tool”. I made mistakes frequently and how often I had to fix the mistakes was very time-consuming. If I were to do a similar task in the future, the “Quick Selection tool” would be the one I will use.

Before and After :

I learned a few things in photoshop from this project. I learned how to use spot healing brush tool and clone stamp tool. I found that these two tools were very useful. Clone stamp tool was very easy to use. I picked up quickly on how to use it. Opposed to spot healing brush. It was hard for to use. I used it here and there but mostly I used clone stamp tool in this project. I also learned about how to use curves and levels layers, and unsharp mask . They made the pictures a lot nicer. I did not know about scanners until we had to use one for this project. I learned about the usage of scanners and how useful they are. I used to wonder about how to convert a physical photo to digital. I only learned how it is done from this project. I did not know about it before. Now that I learned about it, I know what to do when I want digital copies of physical photos or document.

Out of all the things I learned from this project, I think I will use clone stamp tool mostly in the future projects or personal use as the tool is very useful and easy to use. It is also likely that I will play around with the curves and levels layers and unsharp mask to make pictures look nicer. I did not really had any problems in this project. The instructions were clear and easy to understand.
