The Unsplash image that I chose was better in subtle ways in my opinion. The brightness in the colors in the foreground really show what the image is all about. The lighting was better in order to capture the true elements of the ice. However, I liked how well portrait mode on the iPhone replicated the image which was what I was trying to go for. I selected two Unsplash photos and replicated them as best as I could on my backyard rink.
For this lab, I could not get access to a scanner, however I used a scanner app to try and replicate a scan as much as possible in order to compare images. The magazine ad vs. scan looked very similar. The pixilation looked identical, but the color in the scan was much clearer in my opinion. The image that I would choose for a poster would be the scan. It’s brighter and more clear and you can tell from a distance.
The drawing scan turned out better than the original image taken. The color in this scan is also much brighter and sharper. This allows the eye to focus more on the fine lines in the drawing of the ice skate. There is an equal representation between the two images, however the scan is brighter and draws my attention more.
The scan of the 3D object turned out very bad. I would choose my image over the scan. The scan couldn’t quite seem to capture the color or shape of the legos. This caused for heavy pixilation and discoloring.
