Project 4

While doing this project I had wanted to make it as uplifting and happy as possible. Those two emotions was what I was going for when I created this video. The inspiration started with the sound I had created in Audacity in Lab 7. I realized that I could do something with its upbeat tone. The sound itself makes you almost smile. The footage I chose and created were things I had collected over time either just before quarantine or during quarantine. First, I took some photos of the trees and lamp post in my yard in front or behind of the sun. I thought I could play around with the light and see what I could come up with. Aside from that, I had a couple of still videos showing trees and wind coming in. In order to show some happy emotion you always have to have people dancing, so I added a video of my friends and I dancing at a retreat we work at for young high schoolers. I feel like I took a different approach to this final project with the images I chose. I would have loved to have gone out and taken pictures of the city and strangers, but realized the amount of content I had in my own backyard and bubble. Looking at the article from the New York Times, I learned how crazy it is now in the world that we have so much content that is absolutely free to us. All we can do if we wanted is consume consume consume and learn from what we watch.

Project 3

In this project I learned a lot about how to create a basic start up 1st person shooter game. We learned how to create basic terrain with basic features such as mountains, grass, and trees. This project was one of the more challenging projects that we have done so far. I would say that going along with Tyler was nice in order to maintain a good pace and go step by step. This project overall was pretty challenging, and definitely more challenging than I had expected. There are lots of tools and different things that are needed to be known in order to figure out how to place or do certain things. Overall, my submission is pretty basic and I’m aware of that. Due to the recent circumstances I couldn’t add more extra features such as water or anything. I was having trouble transferring the game back into Unity in order to add more things to it. Things to look for in my project would be the forest that I included in one of the corners of the terrain just to make it look more interesting. I honestly would say having Tyler go along step by step was a very big help and would say to continue to do that. It allowed for everyone to follow along, but also give their own personal touch to their individual games. I would definitely take away some of the basic skills of trying to learn new programs to help assist me in the future. I think going back and re watching the video Tyler recorded was helpful in understanding what to do with certain things.

Project 2

During this project I learned a lot about simple coding and website design. Being able to look at the code given and changing it to your own was really cool to do. Once I got the hang of how to do everything it became much easier to work through everything and make changes. There was some challenges along the way such has creating spaces and deleting lines that I didn’t need to use. I think overall I could have played around with the color schemes a little more as well as exploring different fonts and more creative design techniques. For the next time this assignment is presented I think maybe a little more information on how to delete things or anything like that could be included. Other then that everything was pretty self explanatory and easy to work with. This assignment taught me to think a lot more about creativity. I will be able to use this in future assignments because of what I was taught with this project. A basic tutorial video helped me maneuver with certain areas within Brackets.

Overview of what the structure of my website looked like after changes were made.

How my website looks like after coding and editing is finished.

Project 1

During this project I learned a lot about Photoshop as a program as well as different techniques when it came to manipulating photos and placement. As I continued the project I was able to do different things that helped me create my card. Through this process it was not as easy as I thought it would be. Using the different tools to layer and cut different images was challenging and time consuming. The most challenging part of this project was tracing the bunny and placing it behind the grassy background. It took multiple attempts in order to create that effect. Looking at overall improvement I would definitely look at how I placed my images and the quality of them. You can tell that this looks like a very beginner card that could be improved. Overall, I thought the way the assignment was presented was clear and fair. I don’t think there needs to be any changes to it. In the future, I will be able to use the techniques I learned a foundation when learning my next project. Different videos such as the class demonstration video and basic tutorial videos I looked up helped me with this project.

This was the background image I chose to use for my card. It was simple and easy for me to then put the bunny into the background as the front of the card.
I chose this image to use because it looked like it would fit nicely in the background, it was a challenge to cut it out and place it in the overlapping grass.

Lab 1: Creating Imagery

  1. The pixels were chosen to show how different colors went with each other and which ones went with each other. By choosing different pixels, these selected pixels became sectioned off from the rest.
  2. When the checkmark was clicked, the pixels selected would be eliminated from the rest of the noise background.
  3. The final photo with the noise background and the apple looks like a throwback photo with the apple photoshopped onto the background.
  4. Other ways to generate imagery from scratch could be from looking at other images for ideas, taking your own photos or sketching out ideas.
