- What did you learn?
I learned how to use photoshop better. I worked on smaller details to help Santa blend into the cookie house.
- What was easy?
Designing the back and middle portions of the card. I wanted them to be Christmas cookie themed, and I did just that. There didn’t need to be a lot of work put into it because the front of the card draws the most attention.
- What was challenging?
Getting the lighting correct on Santa. There’s a light at the top where Santa is, and I tried different ways to make it look like Santa was being lit up by the light. I ended up using a shadow to make it look like different parts of the cookie were brighter than others.
- How could your submission be improved?
If I didn’t have unexpected printer problems, I would have likely printed it out again and do little touch ups. The top of the text is cut off slightly. I believe it was a printing issue.
- How could the professor improve the assignment for the next class?
I don’t think there’s any aspect that the professor needs to improve on. It was my own time management that led to my failures.
- How might you apply your knowledge in future assignments or work scenarios?
Give myself more time to work. Problems will likely occur again. Keeping this in mind for next project, I will try to spend more time on it to do my very best.
- How did a specific reading or video found outside of class inspire or help you?
Some of the articles on print design helped me understand that printing a card is a very different thing compared to creating one in photoshop. 123RF was one of the articles I used.
